Meet Mandy Sanderson

Tell us about your current role with MTA.

As a global event director, I help to ensure our clients’ events are organized efficiently and executed smoothly.  Thankfully I always have a great MTA planning team for each event, so all the individual pieces of the planning tasks are shared.

How long have you been with MTA? I’ve been with MTA for nearly 5 years.  Time certainly flies!

What did you do before joining MTA?

I’ve worked in various sectors in the past, but before joining MTA I worked in export and marketing.  Part of my job involved organizing the company’s presence at trade fairs, which allowed me to nurture my planning skills.

What’s the best part of your job?

The best part of my job has to be the variety – from planning an event at my desk to running around a hotel with my colleagues making sure that everything is going smoothly.

What’s been your favorite event destination as an event planning professional?

My favorite event destination has to be Cape Town, which I was lucky to visit in May this year!  It is such a beautiful city with stunning scenery.  One to definitely go back and visit!

Do you have a few great travel tips that you could share?

If flying long haul, I always dress comfortably in loose fitting clothes.  I carry small hand sanitizer and moisturizer as a minimum.  A spare top is usually added to my case.  The time I didn’t do this, I spilled some of my breakfast on my blouse just before meeting one of our clients!

What do you do for fun?

At this time of year, I enjoy the beach and outdoor dining, but otherwise, I enjoy the cinema, visiting new restaurants in town with friends or looking for a new piece of vintage furniture for my apartment.  Sometimes chilling with a good book on my balcony helps me to recharge.

Where do you reside? What do you enjoy most about living there?

I’m originally from Southeast England but have been living in Barcelona, Spain for the last 15 years.  I now consider this my home.  The warm climate, mild winters, the sea, and a compact city with plenty to do culturally certainly suits me!

What makes Miller Tanner stand out as meeting planning company?

I think what makes Miller Tanner stand out is its people.  I am lucky to have an amazing group of colleagues, who are forward-thinking and always looking for ways to improve our services.
